This year SidewaysData powered the registration, live timing, and scoring for the RallyCross Nationals in Fresno California.

This was a two day event, with live timing reporting the results of each day independently, and then scoring done cumulative of both days. 59 competitors signed up to do a total of 12 runs each. The Saturday event was also part of the California Rally Series, where competitors compete for points for the year.

You can find the results here

As with all events SidewaysData will archive the results indefinitely.

Competitors came from all over California, and some from the other Western states to compete. Competition was tough across a wide range of vehicles, with a mix of RWD Volvos, Side-by-Sides, FWD hatchbacks, and of course Subarus.

Two Wheel Drive

The total difference across 12 runs for some classes was close. Stock Front Wheel Drive in particular, had a 2.7 second difference from 1st to second place over 12 runs (over 1045 seconds of driving) between Nathan Brasil and Wally Wood. The Side by Side class is also heating up this year, with less than 8 seconds between Tyler and Kevin Jones over 12 runs.

In Mod Front we had a 3.731 second delta between Grover (1st place) in his trusty Bunny Rabbit and Vincent Dozeman in the Civic SI, while in Mod Rear the delta was also close - 3.766 - between Philip Mickleborough in a 1987 Volvo 240 and Tyler Johnson-Williams in a BMW 330i.

Mod Front had great competition across both days. On the end of the first day it was anybody's event, with D'John Keith in his supercharged VW 1.307 seconds from 1st, and Vincent Dozeman 1.046s in 3rd.

The Mod Rear class was especially fun to spectate at this event, with every competitor throwing large plumes of dirt. Nigel Mott in his BMW 318ti put on some smooth sideways action, coming in in third place. Clinton Padilla in the GR86 showed us how to reverse entry nearly every turn.

All Wheel Drive

Stock All was led by Casey Weeks in a 2003 Subaru Impreza Outback with a lead of 43.184 over second place, Steven Salinas in a  2017 VW Golf R, followed by Nikita Latman in a Saab 9-2X.

Prepared All also had close competition toward the end of the first day with Sevag Chanchanian less than .4 seconds behind Cory Siler. Cory would hold the lead, coming in 1st over both days with his 2004 Subaru Forester.

This year we've seen tough competition in the Mod All class between Nicholas Ormiston and Brent Blakely, a real battle of power (Nicholas) vs weight (Brent). Brent's car often does not run an alternator to reduce weight, whereas Nicholas is relying on rally tires and turbocharging. However this time MA was led by Nicholas Ormiston with a 37.257s lead over the next competitor, Elijah Kleeman, followed by Sean Spring and Justin McBee in their Tan Subaru Legacy. Brent Blakely, who is hosting an event the following week, came in 5th.

We look forward to partnering and supporting further events in Fresno and throughout CA.
